A healthy gut is the foundation for a healthy body.  With a well-functioning digestive system, not only does your every day health improve, but you dramatically reduce your risk of illness, such as autoimmune, cancer and diabetes, later on in life.  For overall health and vitality, the first thing we need to do is address any underlying imbalances in the gut.

Your gut is home to gazillions of gut bacteria, known as gut flora, which outnumber your own cells 10:1!  The microflora is often termed as either good or bad bacteria, and we need to make sure we have more good guys than bad.  Our modern day diet, high in sugar, carbohydrates, additives and preservatives, is the perfect breeding ground for the overgrowth of bad bacteria, as is the use of antibiotics and other medicines.  If bad bacteria gets out of hand, we put ourselves in the firing line of a whole range of diseases from autism and depression to autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto’s and type 1 diabetes.

The good or ‘friendly’ bacteria perform a multitude of tasks in your body including neutralising toxic by-products from digestion, controlling metabolism, making vitamins, recycling hormones, communicating with your brain (your gut is also known as the second brain) and training the immune system.  Did you know that your gut makes up 70% of the immune system?  So if your immune system is chronically compromised, it is more than likely due to poor gut health.

Many people struggle daily with unresolved digestive issues or food sensitivities.  If you suffer from abdominal pain, bloating, food allergies, IBS, weight gain, disrupted hormones, skin problems and/or brain fog, it is more than likely you have an unhappy gut, however these issues can be resolved permanently through a combination of dietary and lifestyle changes.

 

This 8-week programme is designed to help you restore your gut health step by step.  There are no fixed start dates, so you can start any time it suits you, and there is also a vegetarian version available.  I am always on hand for support whether it’s through the Facebook group or via email.  If you need further support we can jump on Skype for a one-to-one session.  This programme also combines perfectly to follow on from the Body Reset Programme.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WILL I BE STARVING?

Not at all!  There are recipes for breakfast, lunch and supper, and there is room for snacks in between.  Every meal is delicious and created to nourish your body from the inside out.  This programme is not about starvation or deprivation, and we are not counting calories or dwelling on carbs.  You will feel satisfied with every bite.  If you do get hungry, there are extra snack recipes included.

CAN I STILL WORK OUT DURING THE PROGRAMME?

Yes, please carry on with your workout routines during the programme!  If you feel tired or have low energy, exercising restores both strength and energy.  During this programme, you will be eating protein and drinking plenty of liquids, so if you’re already exercising, there’s no reason to stop!  It is important to remember that whenever you change the foods you eat, your body changes as well.  Please consult with your doctor if you have any specific concerns about your health.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE SUPPLEMENTS, PILLS AND POWDERS?

No you don’t!  The only supplement I recommend that everyone take on a daily basis is a probiotic, and you’ll learn why in this programme.  Please stay on any medication you are on.

CAN I DO THIS IF I’M PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

If you are breastfeeding, I suggest that you add enough protein as per the recommended amount.  All the meals are loaded with protein, healthy vegetables and there are snacks provided.  Make sure you are consuming extra fat and drinking enough liquids.  Please consult with your doctor prior to starting this programme if you have any health concerns.  I would always recommend cutting out any processed and refined foods, and eating fresh, whole foods throughout your pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

I DON'T EAT GLUTEN OR DAIRY. IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?

None of the recipes have gluten or dairy.  I do talk about cultured foods such as Kefir but also give options for those who cannot tolerate dairy.  There is absolutely no gluten in this programme.

WILL I FEEL WEAK DURING THE PROGRAMME?

You are going to feel so strong and energised it will amaze you!  In the beginning, your body may go through a “detoxing phase” to re-balance and let go of unwanted bacteria as you balance your digestion.  It is important to listen to your body through this programme, and I will be here to support you.  I will guide you step by step through exactly what can be done to reduce any unwanted symptoms that may appear.  This programme is completely flexible in figuring out what works for you.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS MIGHT I EXPERIENCE?

Some people go through this programme and feel nothing but energised, while others may feel tired or light-headed as their bodies eliminate and let go of unnecessary toxins.  The experience will differ from one person to the next, but this programme is designed with that in mind.  You’ll have access to all the tools you need to keep any unwanted symptoms at bay.

I HAVE A KNOWN MEDICAL CONDITION. IS THIS STILL SAFE FOR ME?

Although this programme is based on eating only whole foods, if you are on medication or under medical supervision, it is important to consult your doctor before beginning any new eating or exercise programme.  This is a clean eating programme designed to teach you the difference between foods that inflame you and foods that fuel you.  This is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure disease.
